The 5 Steps of a COD Parcel
A cash on delivery parcel involves collecting money at the door, so it goes through these steps:
1. Booking and the COD Amount
Stage 1The seller books the parcel, which gets a tracking number of usually 11 to 14 digits, and enters the amount to collect. This amount is printed on the label.
2. Travel Between Hubs
Stage 2The parcel travels through the hubs to the delivery city. Tracking updates at each stop.
3. Out for Delivery
Stage 3The local branch gives the parcel to a rider for delivery. The rider must collect the amount on the label.
4. Paying and Receiving the Parcel
Stage 4The buyer pays the amount in cash. The rider then hands over the parcel and records the delivery.
5. Payment to the Seller
Stage 5The cash is later paid to the seller’s bank account, on the schedule in the seller’s agreement. Sellers can follow COD payments on the PostEx merchant dashboard.
Can You Open the Parcel Before Paying?
Check With the Shop First
We could not confirm Call Courier’s rule on opening a parcel before paying, so ask the shop about its policy before delivery.
The courier only delivers the parcel; it does not sell the goods. A parcel that has been opened can be hard to send back if you refuse it.
For Online Sellers: COD Payments
If you sell online and ship with Call Courier (now PostEx), keep these points in mind:
- Bank Transfers: COD money is paid to your bank account on the schedule in your agreement.
- Deduction Breakdown: You can follow COD payments and invoices on the PostEx merchant dashboard at merchant.postex.pk.
Ask PostEx customer care for your exact payment schedule and the charges that apply to your account.
Tips for Buyers Paying Cash on Delivery
Keep your phone switched on during the day, because the rider may call to find your address. Deliveries run Monday to Saturday, with no deliveries on Sundays, public holidays or Eid.
Have the exact amount ready in cash, as riders may not carry much change. Check that the tracking number on the label matches the one in the shop's message, and that the flyer has not been cut or re-taped, before you pay.
If you will be out, ask someone at home to receive the parcel and leave them the right amount. Check the label amount against your order, and call the shop first if they do not match. For delivery problems, call Call Courier (now PostEx) on (042) 111-786-227 or email support@postex.pk with your tracking number.
